Selecting the baby crib is essential to setting the style and the theme of the nursery decor. For example a baby crib that is white lends itself to a light and airy theme, perhaps even a little playful. Darker wood creates a heavier appearance and often a more serious or more formal atmosphere. The first step to creating the nursery should be to determine the theme of the decor. Once the theme has been established and there is a color scheme in mind it is time to decide on the color of the baby crib.
Baby cribs comes in as many styles as almost any other furniture allowing the new parents to continue the style of the home throughout the nursery. For example, in a bright and sunny nursery that is designed to be playful and lighthearted a white baby crib could be the answer. On the other hand if the rest of the house is done in a Queen Anne style with darker cherry wood the parents may wish to select a baby crib in the same style to show continuity of design throughout the home.
We have previously discussed the range of color schemes that are available for the nursery. However, when selecting baby crib bedding sets one should attempt to set the decor to the style of the baby crib and accessories. This is not to say that the color scheme of the nursery should be limited in any way. This merely helps the parents decide on the patterns and textures that best complement the baby crib.
As an example if the parents have selected a darker wood that lends itself to a more formal nursery the colors may be bright but perhaps the patterns could be more conventional such as roses and stripes in pink and green for the little girl or dots and stripes in blues and browns for the little boy.
For less formal and lighter wood furniture some of the animal patterns with brown and tan backgrounds may play well. This allows the parents to select patterns that are a little more playful while not going overboard with cartoon characters.
Should the nursery crib and accessories be done in white the whole range of selections is open. One advantage of a white baby crib is that most baby bedding sets include a touch of white, either as a background or an accent. With white furniture the walls can safely be painted in darker shades without making the nursery look dark and gloomy. The white furniture will stand out against a darker backdrop. Darker woods will almost certainly require that the walls are lighter, probably pastel shades to set off the quality of the darker woods.
Some parents feel more comfortable furnishing the nursery with lighter shades of wood grains such as pine or light oak. These cribs do not require as formal a theme and actually appear somewhat neutral in the overall decor. The lighter shades of wood feel warm yet sturdy and often provide the most comfortable setting.
When selecting the baby crib parents must first be concerned with the safety of the crib. The DaVinci Crib has met all government standards and proves to be a great investment. While often shown in the darker woods, the DaVinci crib comes in various wood grains and in white. Whether the parents select from the DaVinci Collection or another it is most important that the safety of the infant be of primary concern.
Once the baby crib has been selected it is then time to decide on the crib bedding set.
