Cotton Blankets
Cotton blankets are a must for every home. For all the hype and retail marketing that surrounds comforters and comforter sets, there is nothing more appreciated than a cotton blanket. Summer cotton blankets are ideal for regulating the body temperature. In the winter, cotton blankets will hold the heat next to the body, keeping us warm.
We have selected our favorite cotton summer blankets to display. Please note that the colors are soft for some of the weaves and darker for the tighter weaves. While some of the blankets are ideal for summer, others are ideal for winter before the chill really sets in.
All the blankets we have selected are 100% cotton.
While some colors may sell out due to popularity in one weave, we have made every effort to provide enough selections so the colors will be available.
Decorating with Cotton Blankets
Some may think that the cotton blanket will not be warm enough for winter use. However, recently we saw a unique way to provide warmth and extra color to the bedroom. Instead of using a single blanket, the decorator selected three blankets, each in a color that worked in the bedroom. They were placed one atop the other, with the top blanket folded down, the second folded down, to about half the width of the top blanket's fold. The third blanket or the one underneath was folded down to about half the width of the middle blanket. By folding each blanket down atop another, three bands of color were formed, highlighting the color scheme of the room while providing more than adequate warmth at night.
In addition to creating a terrific look, with three cotton blankets in use, the sleeper can remove or add cover as needed --- something not possible with a comforter.
Care of Cotton Blankets
Machine washable cotton is easy to care for, by washing on cold and air drying (with a fabric softener to maintain the soft texture). Using cold water and the air dry temperature will help prevent pilling as well as help maintain the shape and bright color. NEVER use chlorine bleach on a cotton blanket. Some white cotton blankets can yellow when chlorine bleach is added.
